Spending your summer days by the pool is a great way to beat the summer heat. Having your own pool in your backyard is even better! If you have been thinking about having a pool installed on your Franklin, Tennessee property, read on.

Why Consider Installing a Pool?

There are many reasons to consider installing an in-ground pool on your property. Some common reasons include:

  • Increasing your home’s value
  • Having a great place to entertain
  • Becoming the place where all the kids want to be
  • Making your outdoor space more enjoyable
  • Improving your health and fitness

Different Types Of In-Ground Pools

There are many options to choose from when you install an in-ground pool, such as the size, shape, material used, and any add-ons you might like–each with its own price tag. Your cost will vary by your choices, but the national average to install an in-ground pool runs between $28,000 to $55,000.

Concrete pools are a very popular material for in-ground pools. Considered to be the most durable pool type, concrete pools also offer endless possibilities for size and shape – limited only by your space and your imagination. They are more expensive than other options and take a long time to install. Once the hole is dug and the concrete is poured, it needs to set for about 4 weeks. On average, you can expect to have your pool ready for summer fun in about six to eight weeks or more.

Fiberglass pools are also a great option. While they come in predetermined sizes and shapes, there is something for everyone. They cost less than a concrete pool, but they are durable and classy looking. These pools are the fastest to install, usually taking no more than three to five weeks.

Vinyl-lined pools have their own pros and cons. They are not as customizable as concrete pools, but more customizable than fiberglass. The pools are the lowest cost option, but they are less durable than the other types and the savings is mitigated by the need to replace the lines every seven years or so. Aesthetically, they are the least appealing of the three types of pools.

In-ground Pool Installation Process

The process of installing an in-ground pool is nearly the same for all pool types.

First, the area needs to be determined to be suitable for the pool. Things that need to be considered are the size of the area, the location of utilities, trees and other obstructions, like sprinkler systems or sheds. The soil also needs to be considered. A pool can be installed in almost any soil, but the process may change if the soil is high in clay, for example. Once this is done, the installation can begin.

Your installers will begin by excavating the site using a backhoe. The backhoe makes the job easier, faster, and more accurate.

Next comes the pool itself. Either concrete will be poured or a liner will be installed. Concrete pools must set for four weeks before continuing with the process.

Now is the time to install the plumbing and fill the pool. Decking and finishing are next – ladders, handrails, and diving boards all get installed at this point, making your pool ready for a party!

The last step is to finish off your new summer oasis with some fantastic landscaping.
